Graduates must register online before 5:00 PM on April 15, 2020, to participate in the Graduate College doctoral commencement ceremony.

Prior to registration, graduates should check with their advisors to determine whether they are available participate in the commencement hooding exercise. If your advisor/dissertation chair is unavailable, you may ask someone else on your committee to be your faculty hooder, but you are not allowed to select more than one faculty hooder. If you do not have a faculty hooder, someone on the platform will assist.

Graduates must wear the University of Iowa custom doctoral apparel from Herff Jones who can be reached at gradmidwest@gmail.com or 952-447-4449.

Apparel consists of tam with/tassel, doctoral gown, and doctoral hood and will be shipped to the graduate's home. The total rental cost is $99.90 plus tax. Graduates ordering after 5:00 PM on April 15, 2020, will be charged a late fee. Graduates who have not registered to participate by 5:00 PM on April 15, 2020, will not be able to participate in the ceremony or rent apparel.

Graduates interested in purchasing apparel instead of renting, should contact Herff Jones at gradmidwest@gmail.com or 952-447-4449 prior to March 25, 2020.

All rental apparel must be returned to Herff Jones.  If apparel is not returned following the ceremony in the Strauss Rehearsal Hall of Hancher, a prepaid return shipping label is included in the packaging when apparel was received. Return the apparel as soon as possible to avoid incurring a charge for non-return of apparel.

Each guest attending the Doctoral Commencement ceremony is required to have a ticket for entry, including babes in arms.  Graduates must pick up their guest tickets prior to the event.  Additional details about ticket distribution will be available on this website at a later date.
