Dean Sara Sanders and UI President Bruce Harreld will confer degrees. President Harreld will confer an Honorary Doctorate of Science upon Mark Mattson, professor of neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University.
Ted Abel, director of the Iowa Neuroscience Institute, will introduce Mattson. The student speaker will be Allison Meyer, of Iowa City, Iowa, who will receive a degree in political science and a degree in ethics and public policy with highest distinction.
Spring 2021 commencement will be virtual, the ceremony will be livestreamed at the scheduled time. Degrees will be conferred and graduates who RSVP'd Yes will be individually recognized during the virtual commencement.
Select College of Liberal Arts and Sciences majors will be recognized. - List of majors recognized at 1 p.m. ceremony.
