"Being chosen to speak at the BLS/BAS Commencement Ceremony is such an honor. With all of the difficulties the world has been experiencing, being able to celebrate this accomplishment brings great joy. As students in a distance learning program, we have all had to acclimate to the online learning environment. This required us to be disciplined in our studies while dealing with the pressures of our everyday life and a pandemic. The support provided to us by fellow students, staff and faculty is unparalleled. We have been blessed to receive that same support from our families, friends, and colleagues.

Saying thank you does not convey just how grateful we are for this support. Being a graduate of the University of Iowa has been a dream since I was a child and I am so grateful to be able to call myself a graduate of the University College Class of 2021. To my fellow graduates, congratulations!"

“It is a privilege to be speaking as a representative of my graduating cohort for the Spring 2021 University College. The BAS and BLS programs provided us flexible and outstanding curriculum in a variety of emphasis areas that encouraged lifelong learning and lessened the fear of returning to school as a nontraditional student. As graduates, we are grateful to our outstanding faculty, family and friends who supported us along the way and allowed us to be here today.”
